For these pieces I wanted to evoke an engine room without being too literal. In that case, evoking an engine room meant evoking work, and heat. For this, mildly syncopated rhythms which repeat with mechanical regularity, and a melody that moves in steady, if playful ways. The motion of the melody is inspired by 'Hello Skinny' by the residents, and by a session of playing with my guitar and looper. The hints of latin influence evoke heat.
