Getting hit with music as action packed as the gameplay every time you hit the menu is exhausting. I like a menu theme to be barely noticeable for about a minute, and only to really kick in if the player is choosing to remain in the menu screen for a long time. I picked this strategy up from playing the newer Gran Turismo games.

Once this song gets going, it's the most straightforwardly chiptune of the whole bunch, very much inspired by standards, from the driving drums to the virtuosic parallel harmonies, to the overall sparsity of voices.
